Yesterday I was forced to experience what is when you're unable to connect when you de really expect it to be fine. I come home, expecting to have some fun after a working day - and see that my internet is off, as my phone line has been blocked (I am using ADSL connection).
I was swearing hardly, called the phone line and quarrelled with them (I paid the phone just 3-4 days ago, and the last date of payment on the bill was stated as 26 August). But anyway, all that was no use and I really shouldn't have shouted at the poor tired girl in the service center, as the district phone hub was already closed at 19:00 and could only re-connect me the next day.. That is, today. So I had to accept this and stay at home alone, having really really nothing to do, forced to postpone all my plans.. Not only WoW unavailable, I couldn't even use internet. Terrible.. Terrible is that you can't connect when it seems so easy and that you feel so helpless when the phone line, such a common and used-to thing (or perhaps even more) as electricity and running water, is off and you can't do anything about it. We modern people are really so helpless without technologies.
Can't imagine what would I've done if everything including phone, electricity and water were turned off. I can't even remember if I have candles at home.. At least they could help when reading. If it were 10-15 years ago, I could play lego or something. And I also had my own invented world that I could continue developing, drawing maps, writing history or holding football championships using dice (though I did replace it with computer, using edited FIFA 99 for that). Now all my life is within technologies.. At least I have a female species at home instead of lego to occupy myself when technology is down, but that seems to be the only thing that connects us with "natural" life now
