OH, is it presents today already? I thought presents are opened at midnight 24/25, or 25 morning?

Christmas presents are always sometime after dinner (and dancing/singing around the Christmas tree) in the evening of the 24th of December here, it's Christmas Eve. Although I already gave myself a present or two last night Merry Christmas, ya'll.

Oh, and the other day I learned that you at some point up there in Finland (and Norway for that matter) copied our old 1991 Christmas TV-calendar show "The Julekalender" (The Joulukalenteri). The other day they played some Finnish clips on the radio, and it just cracked me up completely. I almost had to pull over, on the way to work

We usually get to opening the presents just as midnight strikes on 31 December. Before that they're piled under the Christmas (New Year, actually) tree. Tradition of celebrating Christmas was replaced with New Year during Soviet times. While now many people celebrate the Orthodox Christmas, there is no gift giving on that day.
