Right, I was thinking that I should probably try to get some new gear, as it has been a while since I cared about upgrading it. I have in my currency tab, a load of different kinds of Emblems. Can someone explain to me, what these Emblems of Valor, Triumph, Conquest, Heroism are for exactly? And please do it real simple and slowly because I am utterly confused about them I suppose some of them are extinct and useless, but which ones are currently used and can I exchange old ones to new ones? Or am I not getting the big picture here?

Can I exchange old ones to new ones? Or am I not getting the big picture here? There's a goblin next to the bank in Dalaran Sewers who'll exchange all emblems. But only new ones to old ones. Besides that, well...uuhh...Heroism emblems you can now only get by exchanging others to them, I think, and I guess people only do that these days to get Heirloom items. I know that I could've probably ugraded one or two pieces of my gear if I wouldn't have turned all emblems into Heroism ones to get Heirloom. Atlas Lewt is good for checking all emblem stuff. Or someone who's not as tired as me can explain...

I just upgraded Larha's totem.
It is really messy. I was running back and forth between all the silly elfs in Dalaran for a while and got totally confused.
then I just went to wowhead, checked which items sounded good and what is needed to buy them. It will also tell you what emblem is exchanged/dropped by whom....
Aaaand when you have no clue which is supposed to better, at least wowhead lets you compare item levels and other blabla... It is kinda hard to make such a mess clear to explain. >.<

Right, I was thinking that I should probably try to get some new gear, as it has been a while since I cared about upgrading it. I have in my currency tab, a load of different kinds of Emblems. Or am I not getting the big picture here? The order of value for Emblems is: Heroism < Valor < Conquest < TriumphMain currency for the moment is underlined. Emblems of Heroism USED to drop from Heroic instance bosses and normal 10-man raids. Emblems of Valor USED to drop from Heroic 25-man raids. The vendors that trade these two emblems for stuff still exist in Dalaran, but the emblems themselves do not drop from anywhere anymore. The only way to get Emblems of Heroism and Valor now is to trade Emblems of Conquest for them in Dalaran. However, the exchange rate is one Conquest for one Valor or Heroism (like you would be trading one gold coin to one silver or one copper coin), so it's not usually worth it since Conquest ones grant you access to better gear. Emblems of Conquest are the ones that CURRENTLY drop from Heroic instance bosses and normal raids. Emblems of Triumph drop from Heroic raid bosses. There are vendors in Dalaran who trade these for gear. The best way to know what you should aim right for is to use armory's Find an Upgrade and look for items from the list that can be bought from vendors for Emblems of Conquest. Then just farm heroiks until you get the amount (and so on). The reason I suggest Armory's Find an Upgrade instead of WoWhead's equivalent, is that last that I checked, the wowhead one doesn't check your talents, meaning it suggest everything that's better for your class than your current gear. I assume it's not a bad thing for hunters, but for classes like shaman who can manage two or more roles it's annoying when the thing lists all cloth, leather and mail items in existence. Armory only shows stuff that you can benefit from with your current spec.

Ah, that made it all a bit clearer. Thank you for that explanation.
