The rain fell on Aroh's face as he carried a lifeless bundle in his arms. The skies over Thunder Bluff wept as the small party of tauren approached Elder Rise. Aroh could still feel the warmness of the body thightly wrapped in a blanket. It still looked like her, smelled like her, but Manya was no more.
---
Who know what today would bring. The Chieftain's headdress taken from the old druid's grey mane and placed on the head of the young warrior. The enthusiasm of the Tribe riding into battle with their friends against the Starseekers. The eleves....
The battle was bloody. The enemies overpowering. The lines were breached and The Tribe scattered. After it was all over Manya's body lie on the road trampled and lifeless.
---
The wyvern landed in Thunder Bluff's flight tower. Aroh's arms were all pins and needles. He had carried Manya from Ashenvale to Azshara and pressed her to his chest during the long flight. He barely noticed the pain. The rain fell on Aroh's face and merged with his tears. As the water dripped on the precious bundle on his arms, it turned red.
Skyfire and Yoma were still with him. They were Manya's convoy home through the hostile elven lands. They followed closely as Aroh placed Manya on the blanket in her tent. They could hear Kenai's babble from his crib. Yoma lifted the orphan from his bed and spoke softly. The baby smiled. He truly was the last of the Swifthorns.
The tears were shed, the prayers said. There was nothing more that could be done. The party dispersed. Skyfire carried Kenai to his new home in the mountains. Aroh stayed behind. He could not leave the lioness. He sat quietly at Manya's side. He wiped off the last stains of blood from her face and stroke her wet fur. She looked peaceful, almost happy. "At least I know what became of her", he thought to himself. Faces of lost lovedones flashed before his eyes.
"Go into Earthmother's love." Aroh rose up. " The druids will take care of her. I must let the Tribe know."
((Manya died in the Starseeker's farewell battle in Ashenvale today. Her funeral will be helled Thursday the 26th of April at 20:00 server time. We'll leave from Elder Rise and make our way to Red Rock.))
edit: er, where did I get Swiftcrow from? It is horn, damn it!

Vorgas sighed, looking at the overcast sky. Another one down. Sure, Manya had left the Tribe, but still, she was a member of the the tribe for all he cared. She had always been there, an Elder, caring for the wellbeing of all around her. She had always had a kind word, but also a fierce temper. All in all, Vorgas had really respected, no, liked her.
And now this. In this stupid fight, initiated by those damned long eared elves, pointless if ever any fight was pontless, she perished. A friend lost. A good tauren, a Mistrunner lost to the elves. Damn them all. She will be avenged!
Or will she? Even more blood spilled?
Vorgas was shaken, didn't know how to react. Strapping his polearm to his back, mounting his trusty kodo, he rode out from Thunder Bluff into the plains, to the horizon. He needed time to cool off, to get a new perspective on the world. This couldn't be it... He would return, someday, sure. But a burial of a Mistrunner, one who had fallen like this? Not now.
(( Sadly I will not be with internet access next week, otherwise Vorgas would definetly attend. In my thoughts I will be there. ))

Yoma stood in the tent as the others words passed her by, she stared at the calf as he woke up slowly, blinking at her, and mooing softly. Thoughts rushed through her head a mile a minute, sad thoughts, terrible thoughts. Skyfire leaned closer dangled a trinket, a hollow bullet, in front of Kenai, he giggled. A new family, a caring one, some hope.
---
Yoma walked into the inn with a burlap sack over her shoulder and nodded to the barman. "Oh, not staying with Manya anymore? Something happen?" As gossipy as ever, Yoma thought, and made nothing more than a grunt. Making her way up the stairs, she found her old hammock, and slumped into it.
---
Sitting there, with the rain rattling on the roof and her pipe in her mouth, she thought of all those that had left, remembering the time before she met Manya. How alien and cold that life felt now, what an impression this Shu'Halo had made, even if their first meetings had been anything but pleasant.
Should she go to the funeral? She had abstained from so many before, even her own fathers, death, it had reason, becoming one with the world again, death for the good of many. But this time it stuck a chord. Why Manya?
Picking up some leaves of paper and some charcoal, Yoma did something she had not done in years, not since she had joined the Horde army, she started to draw.

Morgush sighed... ever since he'd abandoned the Chieftainship he'd been hunting those who would harm his Thunderbluff. His faith in the Tribe had finally shattered. The indesiviness, the constant arguments. He knew that the road he walked now would eventually be his downfall, but the raging beast inside him could no longer be tamed by the thought getting others to see what he saw.
He sat near the Aonahe camp, guarding the entrance of Mulgore, listening the for drums of war who'd warn him of an attack. On his elevated perch he saw a small group heading into mulgore. Squinting against the fading light he could make out Skyfire and Aroh, and a lifeless form covered , laid upon a car pulled by a kodo. Moving quickly but stealthy he made his way to the cart, but his keen sense of smell already told him what he feared most.
The drums had sounded long for Manya and the rythem and tone of them had left him without any doubt she was dead. Sighing softly he knew it was one more vision to haunt his dreams.
His mind drifted to Kenai... what about him, what would Manya want him to become. He resolved himself to seek out Aroh.

The old bull slowly rose and had a look at the list he had written. '-Yes, that will do, I think I have got all names down.' he said to himself. Slowly folding the parchment he took out a small bag of waxed kodohide. Into the bag the elderly one placed the list, an amulet, a some toy figures in the shape of great tauren and orcish heroes and a drawn map. The he sealed the bag with wolf sinew and muttered to himself. as he had taken to do lately.
Later, after darkness had fallen, a lone raven set out from the bluffs. If anyone had seen it they could have told it flew northeast in a straight line. The strange thing was the fact that it clutched a small statchel in its claws.

Balun sat on the edge of Stonebull lake...looking out over the water...he cast his mind back, before the bloodshed, tears, death and destruction, remembering the good times....the journeys they had, the stories they had shared....Balun grabbed a flower from the grass beside him, cast it into the lake and said a prayer for Manya.... Balun removed his helm, to show a young proud Tauren's face...fighting back the tears yet smiling as he picked up his swords and walked to his kodo.... ((Noes! i missed Manya's last battle, i'll miss her loads! ))

Proudsnout rose from his meditation and prayers for Manya and her infant son, cramped and heartsick. Too many deaths... and not only were the old rejoining the Earthmother, the young were following before their time was due. Before leaving, he paid a last visit to the Arch Druid and left the carefully wrapped bunch of wild flowers behind for the funeral that would come later. Violently red fireblooms poked up from between gentle peaceblossoms and bright yellow petals. "Dunno if she would like that," he smiled sadly. "But I do, at least." Arch druid Runetotem nodded. "Earthmother be with you... and beware of elves." "That's exactly the idea." Proudsnout picked up his staff. As he walked to the wyvern master, he remembered the first staff he'd been given, in Ashenvale. No more, he reminded himself. He would continue relations with the druidic circles, of course, but the woodlands of his youth would be forever closed to him now. The murder of his tribe sister had made sure of that. Among Ashenvale's night elves were former friends, teachers, lover, comrades in arms... they had a right to know, which was why he would visit one last time: if he would meet them again it would be in battle. (OOC: It's a thursday so I have to work tonight, and even if I didn't my computer is currently packed to be moved... IC Proudy will go to Ashenvale and cut all his remaning ties to the elves. Hope the rest of you will have an event to remember

((I agree with Aroh on all she said. It was a great event. And yes, I will miss Manya terribly to. Seems this is not the end off it though. The fight for Kenai will show as well, me guess.... Vulp? Great playing. ;D Manya's ghost? Sadness and oh so very good. I took plenty screenshots. I'll post them when I get home from work. ))
