I was thinking it would be neat if we, in addition to this forum, had a WowRoster site (www.wowroster.net), like I've seen so many other guilds have (ex. dissensiongaming.com/roster/index.php). A place where you can see all sorts of info about the tribe and it's members. Gear, PvP stats, keys, professions and guild bank contents to name a few. I'm fairly sure this forum could be integrated even.Is there any interest in this among the tribe for a site like this?
I don't really have any great technical knowledge, but the installation is supposed to be fairly easy if we can find a place to host it, and I'd certainly like to help setup and maintain, if we decide to make a roster site.
Your thoughts?
(Deserves its own thread, so I made one.)
My thoughts: I am in a guild on Ravenholdt which has such a roster (but not updated since the 2.0 patch which broke the roster site and the CharacterProfiler add-on). It seems very useful potentially, for example the ability search for who can do a particular enchantment or craft an item. However, not many people have gotten around to uploading their data. Moreover, one needs to keep uploading it to stay up-to-date with the actual status of the character, which can be a pain (I found some automatic uploader though, but haven't tried it since it's Windows-only).
So whether it's worth it depends on if we get people to actually use it. Feel free to put one up if you have the possibility, I promise I'll use it myself. But seeing as there's many who don't even subscribe to this forum, I'm not very hopeful everyone would take the time to do their uploads (though I'd be happy if we all did).
On sidenote, there's another new sharing thing we have: the Guild Event Manager is now used not only for arranging raids, but RP-events too. So far, too few use this one, either. So whatever your level, get the add-on and subscribe to channel "mistrunnerevents". And once you hit 60, you can use that same add-on for the raids (channel "bdgem", password "dawnmist").
