I got Admuncher to munch them in IE, but why are they there in the first place? We don't support cheap gold and such, as far as I know.

It's not that we support them, but every Site which host gaming related sites (like proboards, and may others) get their revenues from adverts. The space is sold to however pays the most, and the goldsellers have the most to gain from advertising there.
I personally don't care, and didn't even notice them till they were pointed out to me.
